How to listen to Persian radio online

Raadio is one free live station: everyone hears the same Persian or world song at the same moment, and the listeners decide what stays on air. Here is everything you can do.

The Raadio Persian radio online player: a brass name plate, a glass display and three round keys Listen live now
  1. Play

Tap the big button. It's live, like a radio.

    • One tap starts the live stream; tap again to stop.
    • Everyone hears the same song at the same moment, like a real radio.
    • The display says On air while you're connected, and Tuning while it catches up.
  2. Vote to skip

Thumbs-down. Enough votes and it's skipped for everyone.

    • Thumbs-down adds your vote to skip the song for everyone.
    • When enough listeners vote, the song ends early and the next one starts.
    • Songs that get skipped a lot come round less often.
  3. Keep it on air

Thumbs-up cancels a skip vote and brings the song back more often.

    • Thumbs-up takes back a skip vote.
    • Songs people keep move up the rotation and come back more often.
    • It's how listeners shape the station together.
  4. HQ or Saver

HQ for full sound, Saver for less data. On a weak connection it switches to Saver by itself, and back once it's steady.

    • HQ plays the full-quality sound.
    • Saver uses much less data, good on mobile data.
    • On a weak connection it drops to Saver by itself, and goes back to HQ once it's steady.
  5. Keep it for later

Hold play for 3 seconds to save the stream on your phone (last 3 hours). If the connection drops, it plays from there. Hold again to stop.

    • While it plays, hold Play for 3 seconds: the display shows Saving.
    • The last 3 hours stay on your phone.
    • If the connection drops, the display shows Tape and it plays on from what it saved, then goes back to live by itself. Hold again to stop.
  6. Catch a flamingo

Tap one that lands and give it a note for the sky.

    • Now and then a flamingo flies by and lands on the radio.
    • Tap it and write a short note: it carries it off and writes it in the sky for everyone listening.
    • Notes are checked before they fly.
  7. Suggest a song

Send it to our Telegram bot: @RADIO_DB_BOT

    • Send a song (an audio file) to @RADIO_DB_BOT on Telegram.
    • If it's already on Raadio, the bot tells you; if not, your suggested song will be voted on by the admins.
    • Voted in, it joins the station's rotation, and the bot lets you know either way.
  8. Studio

The door on top is for hosts.

    • Hosts sign in through the door on top of the radio.
    • In the studio they record, upload, plan shows and go live with a chat.
    • Curators also see the station's numbers.
